Currently in the Twin Cities — June 19, 2024: A brief dry break

Plus, the connections between climate justice and Black liberation.

The weather, currently.

A brief dry break

We’ll get a dry break for most on Wednesday with cooler air and drier air.

Tuesday brought our highest dew points of the year — in the low to mid-70s — to southern Minnesota. That helped to produce more showers and thunderstorms, including the afternoon tornado watch and evening round of storms. More rain develops for Thursday, Friday and Saturday with potentially several more inches of rainfall.

The Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers are forecast to reach flood stage any day now. Downtown Saint Paul is forecast reach close to major flood stage early next week — without accounting for future rainfall, which could tip the scales.

If you want to reflect on the connections between achieving climate justice and Black liberation, you can revisit this conversation from SXSW. Happy Juneteenth!
