Currently in the Twin Cities — October 9, 2023: First frost in outlying areas?
Plus, on Indigenous Peoples Day, #landback for climate justice
The weather, currently.
First frost in outlying areas?
We will continue the streak of cooler than normal days Monday, a rarity lately. Highs will be seasonably cool again Monday, in the low to mid 50s, several degrees below normal. We’ll have plenty of sunshine with a bit of a breeze at 10-20 mph. Clear skies will lead to a frosty night outside of the Twin Cities metro Monday night. Lows will be in the upper 30s in Minneapolis/St. Paul proper but near freezing outside the metro.
We remain cool through the week with highs mostly in the 50s. A storm system will graze us by Friday brining potentially significant rainfall just to our south.

One of the best climate strategies is returning stolen land to Indigenous people — this is what climate justice looks like.
This year, in advance of Indigenous Peoples Day, the NDN Collective has launched a Just Transition fund to help build technical capacity for frontline groups to continue the #landback fight.

Indigenous people already protect the vast majority of the world’s biodiversity, with technologies such as prescribed fire and responsible resource harvesting. It’s time for the rest of society to follow their lead.
